GRha Thumb

Grewal House

The flat, featureless plot of land for a farmhouse, neighbours the Aravalli range, but was too far from it to actually gain from this proximity. The ground-roof plane (green surface) was modulated to incorporate the house programme, and became an abstraction of the undulation of the mountains. The area of green cover was not compromised in the building of this house, in fact, it was increased. The house is completely integrated under the green roof, with some programmes partially underground by a split ground plane. The Z shaped plan allows for different courtyards to be created for each function.
